There are a few different cables that are available for the Xbox 360 and they all have different qualities, the cable that comes with the standard Xbox 360 is the component HD AV cable that delivers high definition and standard definition quality to your television, is eight feet long and also offers optical digital output for your home cinema system. To enjoy high definition quality when playing your Xbox 360 you have to have a high definition cable television and this is well worth considering if you are buying a new television as the quality given from high definition is simply amazing. The standard HD AV cable does support all televisions though so it does not matter if you do not have a high definition television, you will just not get the maximum visual quality from your Xbox 360 games console. The component HD AV cable offers an output of 720p or 1080i and also offers DVD progressive scan playback at 480p, the cable also offers full Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound output so you can get great surround sound effects in your Xbox 360 games if you have a surround sound system.
There are also two other cables available with one being the advanced AV cable, this enables RGB video signals which have even greater video output. Then there is the VGA AV cable that is for use with monitors and televisions that have VGA inputs and is mainly used for using the Xbox 360 with a computer monitor such as the TFT LCD monitors, these VGA cables have the same properties as the standard component HD AV cable in that it has video output settings of 480p, 720p, or 1080i and provides full Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound support.
