Xbox 360 Premium Package

When you buy an Xbox 360 there are two packages that you have to choose from, one is a basic package and one is a full featured package that contains the best accessories that you will need to play the Xbox 360 to it's full potential and is also often called the Premium package. This premium package is around £50 more expensive than the cheaper package but it does contain accessories that are very useful and will cost more than £50 when purchased separately so the premium package is very good value if you wish to get the most from the Xbox 360 and most people will want to do this when spending £200+ on the Xbox 360 games console. So for this reason we recommend buying the full package as it will provide a much better gaming experience and also offers good value when you consider what is included in the premium package.

The contents of the premium package are:

Xbox 360 console:

This is the main Xbox 360 games console which plays the games and has three powerful core processors with 720p/1080i output, anti-aliasing for smooth textures, full surround sound and DVD playback, for more information on the specification of the Xbox 360 please see the specification page.


Xbox 360 hard drive:

The Xbox 360 hard drive is removable so that you can use it with other Xbox 360 games consoles and only comes with the full Xbox 360 package. The hard drive is very much recommended and one of the main reasons that you should buy the premium Xbox 360 package as it costs around £60 when purchased separately which is about the same as the difference in the price between the two packages alone. The hard drive has a storage capacity of 20GB which is very large for a games console, you will need a hard drive to save games (a memory unit can also be used for this), store music and download content from the Xbox live service.


Xbox 360 wireless controller:

The Xbox 360 premium package comes with a wireless controller which is much better than the wired controller, this means that there will be no more wires trailing around your room and you are not limited as to how far you can be from the games console (as long as you can see the screen!). The wireless controllers are battery powered and use two AA batteries so rechargeable batteries are very much recommended, you can also buy a rechargeable Play & Charge kit which are very cool as they allow you to charge the batteries in your wireless controller while you play your Xbox 360 games.


Xbox 360 faceplate:

The Xbox 360 full package comes with the standard faceplate, the faceplate is removable so you can buy other faceplates to change the appearance of the Xbox 360 games console to suit your taste.


Xbox 360 component HD-AV cable:

The premium Xbox 360 comes with the standard component HD-AV cable that offers high definition and standard definition output, to enjoy the high definition output you will need a high definition television and this is well worth considering as the picture quality is much higher on high definition televisions so using high definition is the only way to get the maximum quality out of the Xbox 360. The HD-AV cable also has optical digital output integrated so that you can connect the Xbox 360 to a surround sound system such as a home cinema system which is very useful as with the original Xbox you had to buy a separate cable for optical digital output.


Xbox 360 headset:

This headset is used for communicating on Xbox live so that you can actually talk to team mates during online play, it is like a small pair of headphones with a microphone attached so is comfortable to wear and easy to use as it connects to the controller.


Xbox Live silver membership:

The Xbox 360 full package comes with an Xbox Live silver membership, this allows you to download new content such as maps, levels, demos and trailers and also allows you to send and receive voice and text messages from online friends. Please note that to play games online using the Xbox Live service you will need an Xbox Live gold membership which is purchased separately although if you have a current subscription to the old Xbox Live service then this can be transferred to the Xbox 360 and allows online game playing.


So for all that you get with the full Xbox 360 package it has got to be the best buy when buying an Xbox 360 package, the equipment that comes with the Xbox 360 full package is worth much more than the price difference between the two packages and all of it is very useful. The two main advantages are the hard drive and the wireless controller, these two alone are enough to warrant buying the premium Xbox 360 package as they will make the Xbox 360 much better.
